Museums and Libraries as user friendly learning centres

Recent research suggests that cultural institutions such as  Libraries, Museums, Cultural centers etc. are  considered by adult learners as more accessible and friendly learning environments than traditional educational institutions.

Past pilot projects within the Socrates and Grundtvig programs have addressed these issues. But their value has often been confined within the institutions involved or particular sectors or regions. DILLMULI,  a dissemination project funded under Grundtvig, sets out to draw together these results  in order to develop more effective links and synergies between projects and networks, thereby transferring and disseminating this knowledge to professional ‘multipliers’ and supporting co-operation and sustainability.

Among the main practical outcomes of DILLMULI are:

§  an extensive, validated tool-kit, translated into all partner languages. This is intended to assist both  practitioners and policy makers to identify guidance and best practice across a wide range of aspects concerning the role of museums and libraries in adult education

an exhibition providing an attractive visual presentation of the results from the best practice projects selected by DILLMULI.
